DMAE Campus International Dinner |
2008 International Dinner Jonathan Hayot |
On March 8th, 2008 DMAE high school celebrated their international dinner, a coming together of cultures to celebrate the melting pot that is our school. Students and their families brought various dishes from different cultures as everyone took part in something new.
Along with the different foods, came entertainment. First to perform was Ms. Gil’s Latin dance club, as they charmed the audience with their various forms of dance, they finished their performance by pulling people from the crowd to dance along with them. Following the Latin dance club was a performance by sophomore Nicole Chmura, who is a skilled ballroom dancer. Accompanying her was her dance instructor; they wowed the audience with their graceful turns and splits as they glided across the floor. The final performance for the night was senior Brittany Shepard, a talented young dancer who preformed a very graceful ballet routine.
Throughout the night music played as students and their families socialized with one another and enjoyed the food. The biggest attraction at the desert table was a very elegant strawberry tree designed by Muriel Leconte. The tree sat in the center of the table surrounded by delicious deserts provided by everyone. People enjoyed the tree’s appearance, but loved to eat it even more.
The 2008 international dinner had an amazing turnout; and despite the unfavorable weather 150 people of all races, from both sides of campus came out to help make the night a huge success. Hopefully next year’s dinner will be an even greater success and we can continue to develop the full campus tradition.
