Ludwig van Beethoven Beethoven was a child prodigy and gave his first public
appearance on March 26, 1778 when he was only 8 years old. In 1787, Ludwig
moved to Vienna, the cultural center of Europe. Two of Beethoven's
comtempraries were Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Hayd who were famous
musicians of their time. In 1800, Ludwig Van Beethoven had his first
benefit concert and launched his first symphony that included the premiere
of his Symphony No. 1 and Septet op.20. Unfortunately, in his late 20's something terrible
happened to Beethoven's body. He began to grow deaf, which caused great
anxiety in his life. Through it all, Beethoven wrote 9 symphonies. This
